White water rafting can be done on a piece of river which passes a rough patch of water caused by rocks, a rugged river bed and a change in speed of the river flow.
One day someone came up with the bright idea to try and send a boat down the river with people in it. White water rafting was born!
A great team building activity, white water rafting consists of high adrenaline rushes, scary ass rapids and requires physical strength.
White water rafting is a dangerous extreme sport that requires trained and insured instructors to organise and supervise the events.
Rafts vary in size and how many people they can hold. Between 4 to 12 people is the norm. When rafting you can book a half day activity or you can book a rafting holiday but you will probably need another break afterwards to recover.
On the day you will be taught all saftey procedures and techniques needed to perform the sport as safely as possible.
There are a few different classes of rapids which are set out to prepare you for what you will be facing on that river.
Class 1 - Very small rough areas, no manoeuvering required (No skill required).
Class 2 - Some white water, maybe rocks, might require manoeuvering (basic paddling skills required).
Class 3 - Whitewater, small waves, maybe small drops, but no considerable danger, requires significant manoeuvering (experienced paddling skills required).
Class 4 - Whitewater, medium waves, maybe rocks, maybe considerable drops, sharp manoeuvers needed (rafting skills required).
Class 5 - Whitewater, large waves, large rocks and hazards, large drops, requires precise manoeuvering (advanced rafting skills required).
Class 6 - The most treacherous and almost impassible. It includes everything in classes 1 - 5 but bigger and more dangerous. Highly likely to cause serious injury or death (skill level is more like luck level on these rapids).
So, get a crazy group of adventure searching, adrenaline loving, thrill seeking extreme sports animals together and have a day to remember. Heart pumping fun guaranteed!
